Kusogon!

Kusogon is a new mini vinyl monster standing about 4", designed and produced by Beak x Monster Worship and made in Japan. These seriously might be my new favorite minis. So crude and sludgy yet so much character with those little articulated arms, odd head, and buggy eyes. These particular versions are from SDCC Preview Night, including an HP and a Mocha Sludge that I was lucky enough to purchase after the Con. The handpaint is especially awesome!

The HP also came with an 8x11 original screenprint/painting, as well as some freebies including three small prints and a t-shirt.

I will definitely be supporting more Beak x Monster Worship stuff in the future, and can't wait for the upcoming Halloween release!

I just picked up with this awesome set of Glutamin and Guerrilla Punch. Extremely high quality clear Japanese sofubi with beautiful paint apps, yip!

Toy Karma: RxH & Cronic

I drove up to the Toy Karma show at Rotofugi back on September 8th, 2007 (I know, I know.. this was over three months ago). I made a post on Skullbrain awhile back including tons of pics from the show.. If you want to, check them out HERE.

Anyways, I finally got around to taking some pretty decent shots of the two exclusives I scored at the opening. One was a really nice painted green Mutant Chaos from Real x Head, this was the main piece that I was after. There was also a nice surprise release, a cool painted GID Bakurasu from Cronic!

Review: Sole & the Skyrider Band

I just got the new self-titled album from Sole And The Skyrider Band. Its been awhile since I've bought a new "hip-hop" release, although it could be argued that the album doesn't really fall directly into this category. While Sole does deliver some of his signature rhyme schemes and intense outbursts, the overall spectrum of this release spans much more ground than his usual solo ventures. The addition of the amazing three-piece from Orlando known as Skyrider has clearly given Sole a fresh outlook on his own approach to music. I love all of Sole's releases, from the early Bottle of Humans to the somewhat under appreciated Live From Rome album. However, this could quite possibly be my favorite release from Tim Holland.

With Bud Berning running the bass, samplers, and editing details.. John Wagner on drums and William Fritch on multiple other instruments.. and of course Sole on vocals.. this album delivers a musically consistent thirteen tracks. Add the keen mixing ear of Alias to the equation and you've got an outstanding lineup. Highlights for me included the crunchy intro track "A Sad Day for Investors", as well as the "Magnum" and "One Egg Short of an Omelette". The two best tracks in my opinion are "The Bones of My Pets" and the closing song "Stupid Things Implode on Themsleves", which both could possibly be in Sole's top-five best tracks.

Seems to be a fitting colorway for a 'mutant vegetable'.

I dig this rad paint rub technique that RxH used here.
The metallic highlights top it off.. Great release!

Mutual Concepts is a group including myself and a couple of good friends residing in Northern Virginia. We have been making music together since 1999, releasing numerous self-printed EP's and instrumental projects for fun.

'The Crash of Absolutism' is our debut 14 track full-length CD that has been professionally mastered, replicated, designed, and packaged in shrink-wrapped jackets. The album blends intelligent/conscious lyrics with various styles of hip hop beats and instrumentation. We released the album on May 15th, 2007 under our own label, Decibel Poets Records.
